As a devoted bread enthusiast, the moment I laid eyes on the giant croissant trending on my feed, I knew our first stop in Kuala Lumpur had to be Black Bixon Café. Let’s dive into whether the viral croissant at Black Bixon Café actually lives up to the hype.
Discovering a Hidden Gem
The first surprise came when we arrived at Black Bixon Café. its elegant and super classy but the café is located in an unassuming spot in quite a random location.
Pastries heaven:
Once inside, we were greeted by range of pastries on display from exquisite charcoal croissants to matcha treats, the choices were almost overwhelming. But let’s be real, we knew that if were going to get the croissant, we wouldn’t be able to finish that let alone anything else.
The Moment of Truth – The Giant Croissant
Now, let’s talk about what you came here for – the croissant. Firstly – It really was massive (I’d say there was 20 croissants worth within one) and it comes with butter, cream and a pair of gloves. To our surprise, it was done really well. The entire pastry is flaky and soft on the inside, and the outside layers are crisp. It’s extra delicious with the cream but I reckon they could’ve been waaay more generous with the cream & butter.
Final Verdict: Worth the Try
I mean, we couldn’t really fault anything about the croissant, especially considering its sheer size but would we order it again? Between the two of us, we could only finish a third of it, so unless we return with a small army of croissant enthusiasts, probably not. But was it worth trying? Hell yes because I think it’s an actual skill to be able to bake a croissant like this (and for it to be delicious). If you do come here it’s best if you pre-order before you go in case they run out!
The giant croissant was 50 Ringgit at Black Bixon Café. So, what do you think? Would you try it?
